I bought a snake. This in itself wasn’t unusual because I’d owned snakes before. I was allowing it to wrap itself around my right arm being careful to keep its mouth away from me. I thought I had it under control when it suddenly turned and plunged its fangs into my arm.
Interestingly, it didn’t hurt, and I watched it trying to think of what to do, how to get its fangs out of my arm. This had never happened to me before. I watched it for a while before I began to panic because I didn’t know what to do. Whatever I did, shaking my arm, pulling at it, it fangs remained firmly wedged in my arm. Then suddenly, as though it was bored, it let go.

I know snakes are about healing, but this didn’t feel like a healing situation. I looked up snakes in Stephen Farmer’s Animal Spirit Guides. He has a lot to say about snakes.
- You’re about to go through some significant personal changes so intense and dramatic that an old self will metaphorically die as a new self emerges.
- You’re going to feel a surge of energy that will sharpen your senses, alert your mental faculties, and open up new channels of awareness.

I had this dream the night before setting off for my week in Wales. Was I about to encounter some dramatic change while away and open up new channels of awareness? But why did the snake plunge its fangs into me, and why couldn’t I do anything to get them out?
I thought perhaps it was to do with resolving a long-standing issue. It was a situation I’d brought upon myself (I’d bought the snake) but one where the solution was not in my hands. The message being that I wouldn’t have to do anything, to allow the solution to be found.
There was one situation that immediately sprung to mind. All the way down on the three hour journey I thought of how a text or phone call could set healing in motion. I couldn’t decide if the person would accept the olive branch, but I could at least offer it. Which is exactly what I did within half an hour of arriving, and he resolved the situation.
If you can think of anything else I’ve missed in this scenario I’d be most interested to hear your views. I am still fascinated by the images and scenarios of dreams and meditations.

Anyway creative energy, which is why it did not let go of your arm, was it your main arm you write with? Also “Old” energy, which ties in with the Angel. a little pattern is emerging here methinks.

Hi Dave. I checked out the website. It gives some interesting takes on the animal qualities including snake wisdom being ‘connection to, or forms the magic cord by which the shaman travels to the soul world.’
Yes the snake had its fangs in my writing arm. I’m not sure what you mean by ‘old’ energy. Are you saying I need to let go of old energy to allow the universal ‘angel’ energy to come in?

Before I go further, are you Shaman or Christian or both, just so I can work out what is being said without offending you, It makes no difference to me at all, I give you my word on that, it is just the answer may be coming from one place rather than another.

I’m not Christian but not yet sure if I’m Shaman. Still at exploratory stages, though the shamanic place is feeling more natural at the moment.

So you are just starting on your Path, top cool. There will be many twists and turns, you will veer off from time to time, but my best advice for you will be this. Learn everything, keep what you need at any given time, leave what you do not need at any given time. If it feels right now, keep it, if it does not then leave it behind, you can always pick it up again at a later time. I learned a lot from books of various Paths and Faiths, and from other travelers as well, all that I learned and kept is within my pages and posts and comments, but sometimes I learned from the Spirits (My Gods and Guides). But my choices are mine, the way I do thing are mine, No-one will be the same as me because that is Shamanism to me.
Shamanism for me at least, is the freest of all paths, you have no restrictions apart from your ethics, where all of the structured Paths like Druidism, Wicca, and the Classical Paths place restrictions on how you do things. Also there is not the Gods to worry about, unless you feel a pull to any Pantheon or even a single God/ess like GG has. But to start with The Great Spirit, where the Energy comes from, or the Universe, depending on your choice, is all you need to worry about. No festivals, no complication. just you and the Energy.
Spirit guides will turn up, some “Human” like my Andi, but most will be Animal or Plants or even Rocks and stones. All and everything Natural has Energy.
At this time I will advise you as one Shaman to another, if and when you change your Path then I will try to advise you on that, or if I am unsure, I will find someone more suited to that new Path, but I will always be here if you need me, Until I take my next journey, even if you learn more than me lol.
Back to your dream, I think that Snake has spoken to you, and is willing to help with your writing and your journey. guiding you beyond the veil to help with both your books and journey. Angelic Energy is basically the same as Universal Energy, although I know others will disagree with that statement, it is where you feel it is coming from. In the Angel dream there are Christian Overtones due to the Pope and Angel, with the Pope receiving the Energy from a Divine source, while in the Snake dream the Snake was giving you the Energy itself, outside of the Divine. The Snake is with you at this time, and no it does not mean you have to buy one, otherwise I would have a full sized Cougar trying to wash me, while I would not mind, the Neighbours would complain about a big cat sitting on the fence looking at the local dogs. But what do you feel from Snake, what does it say to you, now, that is the key to finding out the Energy it is bringing into your life.
As more animals turn up, write out a basic circle as I described, and place the animals where you feel they should me, due to the energy they are bring to you. At some point you will receive a visit from a special Animal, it will keep on cropping up, on tv, dreams, conversations, everywhere. That will be your Power Animal, your main Animal. It will never change but it will guide and protect you on your journey of Life, and it will always be there for you. watch for patterns in the world around you, as I said before, Eyes and mind wide open.
I am a little confused about the Angel dream though, which is why I asked if you were Christian. I know a lot of people poohoo it but both Christianity and a Occult Path can co-exist within the same person. Look at St. Frances, he could be classed as a Shaman, due to his working with Animals, or maybe the Energy is yet to reveal itself, for some reason, you are not ready, or it is the Great Spirit calling to you, giving you Guidance how you may understand.
Orange, while it is not a colour you like, what does it say to you? Sit and think about the Colour, if you can visulise it as a ball of orange light, much the same as your healing, what vibration is it giving off.

One final thing for you, When you have your dreams are they lucid, crystal clear, through your eyes or are the from over your shoulder seeing you as well as what is going on within your dream?
